Sony FR7
The Sony Cinema Line FR7 is the world’s first full-frame interchangeable-lens camera with built-in pan, tilt, and zoom (PTZ) functionality. It essentially places the high-end imaging capabilities of the Sony FX6 Cinema Camera onto a robotic PTZ head, making it a powerful tool for professional broadcast and live production.
The FR7 combines cinematic image quality with the flexibility of remote robotics:
- Full-Frame Sensor: Features a 35mm Exmor R CMOS back-illuminated sensor with approximately 10.3 effective megapixels.
- Lens Compatibility: Uses the Sony E-mount, supporting over 70 lenses ranging from 12mm to 1200mm, including the high-end G Master series.
- Video Performance: Captures up to UHD 4K at 120fps for smooth slow-motion and offers 15+ stops of dynamic range for professional-grade exposure latitude.
- ND Filtration: Includes a built-in electronically controlled variable ND filter (1/4 to 1/128) that can be adjusted remotely or set to “Auto” to maintain constant exposure in changing light.
- Autofocus: Employs Fast Hybrid AF with 627 phase-detection points, supporting real-time Eye AF and subject tracking even with shallow depth of field.
- Robotic Movement: Offers smooth, slow pan and tilt speeds as low as 0.02 deg/s and as fast as 60 deg/s.
